Crew & collaborators

Alaska directors, DPs & camera crew

Mountain Mind Media is an Alaska production company based in Palmer, in the Mat-Su Valley. Our core crew covers directing, camera, drone, production, post and stills, and we bring in trusted collaborators when a shoot needs more hands.

Why Alaska

Brendan built Mountain Mind Media around what keeps him in Alaska: big-mountain skiing, whitewater and flying. He earned his pilot's license, later became a commercial pilot, and learned to land a bush plane on glaciers on skis, alpine lakes on floats, and beaches and dry riverbeds on tundra tires.

He has camped among dozens of grizzly bears to film them. Flying led him to build the Cub Cam, a stabilized camera mount on his Super Cub's wing that gets helicopter-style shots for a fraction of the cost.

That's the experience behind every shoot: knowing the country, the weather and how to work safely in it.

The crew

  • Brendan Wells

    Founder, Director / DP

Brendan founded Mountain Mind Media and directs and shoots commercials, brand films and documentaries for clients like KUIU, Red Bull, Hulu and Netflix. A lifelong hunter and angler and a commercial pilot, he flies his own Super Cub and built the Cub Cam for air-to-air shots.

  • Ash Ryan

    Head of Production

Ash runs production, from scouting and permits to the schedule on location. An Alaskan with a background in marketing and guiding, she keeps shoots moving in remote country.

  • Carlos Loria

Post-Production Manager: editor, sound design, colorist

Carlos runs post-production: editing, sound design and color, plus motion graphics and media backups. He brings more than a decade as an audio engineer and editor, and a musician’s ear for pacing and sound.

  • Brian Burger

Lead Safety Manager, IFMGA Mountain Guide

Brian is an internationally licensed IFMGA mountain guide with extensive experience in film production safety. He runs safety on our shoots in the mountains, on glaciers and in remote country: location scouting, written risk assessments and emergency plans, safety briefings, rope work and rigging for cast and crew, and the daily calls on weather and terrain.

  • Olin Wimberg

    Cinematographer, Field Producer

Olin has shot hunting shows, commercials and documentaries. A former heli-attack firefighter, whitewater kayaker and backcountry skier, he’s at home working in rough, remote country.

  • Eric Parker

    Stills Photographer, Cinematographer

Eric has worked as a photographer since high school, shooting wildlife, action sports, automotive and more. He shot many of the Alaska photos on this site and co-created the Flowstate series with Brendan.

  • Jasper Gibson

    Stills Photographer

Jasper is an adventure and lifestyle photographer whose work includes Fjallraven and Red Bull Rampage. He grew up hunting, fishing and skiing in northern Idaho, and has shot whitewater, ski expeditions and backcountry trips from British Columbia to New Zealand.

  • Todd Wells

    Grip / Gaffer, Field Producer

Todd co-created For the Love with Brendan, following first descents of rivers from Alaska to Ecuador. Their segment Liquid Lumination won Best Short Film at The Melt Awards.
